2007 Homeless Memorial March and Service
To honor and remember those who have died while homeless in Minnesota
Thursday, December 20, 2007

Marchers gather outside the Hennepin County Government Center to begin the march and silent vigil.

Marchers proceeded down Nicollet Mall carrying signs with the names, ages, and hometowns (if known) of the people who died during 2007.

Marchers caught the attention of people on Nicollet Mall, many of whom were waiting for the Hollidazzle parade to begin.
The 8 foot tall puppet led the over 300 marchers, creating an ominous and eye-catching image.

Bagpiper George Mejia played while marchers entered the Service of Remembrance.

Steve O'Neil, St. Louis County Commissioner and longtime advocate for people experiencing homelessness spoke to the 700 attendees of the service.

A candle was lit while the name of the person who had died was read.

Local musician Leslie Ball provided music for the service.
