The 25th annual Homeless Memorial
March and Service

Thanks to all who attended the 25th annual memorial honoring those members of our community who died in 2009 while experiencing homelessness.

Over 400 marchers made their way from the Hennepin County Government Center to Simpson UMC and over 700 attended the Service of Remembrance

On any night in Minnesota, there are at least 1,000 people out on the street. The average life expectancy in America is 77 years. The life expectancy of a person who is homeless is 47 years.

Monica Nilsson, Director of Outreach - St. Stephen's Human Services, president of the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless and longtime advocate for the homeless community spoke at the serice.

Music included the Ninijanisag Drum Group from the Ain Dah Yung Center. read about the native drummers
Also, Saleha Erdman on cello.

The community meal was served by Minnetonka UMC. Coffee was privided by Peace Coffee.
