Adopt-a-Family
Share your holiday spirit with families participating
in Simpson Housing Services' Family Housing program by providing
gifts. Families create a wish list of desired items worth approximately
$50 for each family member. Volunteers choose the size of family
that they would like to adopt and they are promptly matched with
a family.
The gifts are to be wrapped and delivered to Simpson Housing
Services offices by Monday, December 8, 2008.

Birthday Bag Provider
Create a memorable birthday for a child or teen in our Transitional Housing program. Decide the number of bags you would like to make and contact our staff. We will provide you with the child or teens name, age, gender, and birth date.
Responsibilities Please create a birthday bag with the following items:
- Disposable cake pan
- Cake mix
- Frosting
- Small paper party plates
- Party napkins
- Candles
- An age appropriate gift with a value of $20. If you are matched with a youth age 13-18, please purchase a Target gift card of $15-20.
Please do not include candy and Kool-Aid.
Time Commitment
This is a flexible volunteer opportunity, you can volunteer one time or on an ongoing basis. Each month an Simpson Education Support Advocate will create a list of birthdays and volunteers decide how many birthday bags they would like to provide.
Items may be dropped off at Simpson Monday-Friday from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Welcome Home Basket Provider Information
Simpson is seeking organizations and groups to sponsor Welcome Home baskets for families and single adults as they move into housing. People moving from shelters into housing often times lack the basic items to start a home. The baskets will not only create a welcoming start to a new home but also provide essential items for a family or single adult.
Responsibilities
- Provide a $20 gift certificate to Target, WalMart, Cub or similar discount store along with other household necessities. Items could include laundry soap, disk soap, mop, bucket, toilet paper, sponges, calendar, wall clock, broom, dust pan, paper towels, glass cleaner, bath towels, bathroom cleaner.
- Basket items should total no more than $50.
- Drop off baskets at Simpson.
Time Commitment
- This can be a one-time opportunity or ongoing.
Items may be dropped off at SHS Monday-Friday from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Holiday Food Basket Provider Information
Simpson Housing Services is seeking organizations, groups, and individuals to create baskets of non-perishable food items that will help with a holiday meal for families participating in the Family Housing program.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a $20 gift certificate to Cub or Rainbow Foods for families to purchase turkey, chicken, ham or other protein. Foods in the basket could include canned vegetables, pie filling, piecrust, stuffing, Jell-O, potatoes, and canned fruit. Volunteers are encouraged to be creative!
- Deliver completed baskets to Simpson.
Time Commitment
This is a seasonal volunteer opportunity, you can volunteer one time or on an ongoing basis throughout the year. Contact Cincere with questions.
