Children's Activity
Assistant
Volunteers work with children from the Family Housing Program on arts, crafts and games and assist with supervising children on monthly outings.
Responsibility
- Listen to and interact with children.
- Supervise children in a non-threatening manner.
- Report any problems, accidents, or complaints to Transitional Housing staff.
Qualifications
- Application process including background check.
- Ability to work with children from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work with staff and other volunteers.
- Flexible, responsible, engaging, patient, and fun.
- Open communication and sharing spirit.
Time Commitment
Volunteers are expected to volunteer once a month for a school year. All activities take place during the evenings.
Training
Training is provided for all volunteers.
Location
Workshops will be held at the Hennepin United Methodist Church at 511 Groveland, Minneapolis from 6 pm until 8 pm on Mondays. Family outings will be various locations.

Children's Activity Coordinator
Volunteers develop activities for small groups of children at our monthly workshops. Design age specific arts, crafts, or games to engage children for one and a half hours. Volunteers communicate with Rachel Kuehl to plan activities.

- Create a supply list for staff to purchase needed items.
- Listen to and interact with children, be responsive to their needs
- Supervise children in a non-threatening manner.
- Report any problems, accidents, or suggestions to Family Housing staff.

Soar Bag Lunch Provider
The meal provider purchases, prepares and delivers 75 bag lunches for families in the Family Housing Program. Prepared lunches will be brought to the monthly outings. Bag lunches should include a sandwich, chips, fruit, dessert and drink.

- Purchase and prepare the food
- Deliver the food to Simpson Housing Services
Qualifications
Responsible and reliable
Time Commitment
The length of time depends on the group. Sandwiches should be delivered to Simpson Housing no later than 4:00 on the day of the outing.
Location
Food should be delivered to our offices at 2100 Pillsbury Avenue South in Minneapolis. When delivering please come to the 28th Street door and ring the intercom.
SOAR Meal Provider
The meal provider purchases, prepares and serves a meal to approximately 50 family members in the Transitional Housing Program.
Responsibilities
- Purchase and prepare food
- Serve meal from 6:00 pm to 6:30 pm
- Perform cleanup of serving area
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate and work with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Responsible, reliable, patient, and respectful
Time Commitment
1 ½ - 2 hours per shift (5:30 pm to 7:30 pm) plus additional time to prepare the meal.

Facilities
On-site commercial kitchen with cooking pots, pans, and cooking utensils. Meal group provides plates, cups and silverware.
