Steve has served as Simpson Housing Services’ Executive Director since 2012. Steve’s core values are deeply rooted in social justice and servant leadership; he believes that every person deserves dignity, respect, and equal access to critical resources such as housing, healthcare, education, and employment. Under Steve’s leadership, Simpson Housing Services’ programs have expanded to serve over 3000 people transitioning out of homelessness. Steve led the board of directors and staff at Simpson to develop and adopt a significant 5-year strategic plan that will deepen the impact of Simpson’s services in the community.
Prior to joining Simpson, Steve worked at Salvation Army’s Harbor Light Center where he served first as the Business Manager and then four years as the Chief Operating Officer. Prior to his professional work in the nonprofit sector, Steve had a 10-year career at UnitedHealth Group, managing operations and process improvement initiatives. Steve earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University and a Master’s degree in Industrial Relations with a secondary concentration in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Business.
Steve is a key leader in the homeless service movement in the Twin Cities, having served as board chairperson at Metrowide Engagement on Shelter and Housing; currently serving as chairperson of the Healthcare for the Homeless Community Board; and providing leadership in advocacy and Heading Home collaborations focused on improving the community response to homelessness.

Wendy first joined Simpson Housing Services as a Case Manager in 1998, and has been the Director of Programs since 2006. Wendy is dedicated to housing and supporting individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Before coming to Simpson, she was an advocate at the Dorothy Day Center in St. Paul, MN and volunteered for the Christian Appalachian Project in Kentucky.
She has a BA in Psychology and English from Wartburg College and an MA in Organizational Leadership from St. Catherine’s University. She was the 2007 recipient of the Bruce Vento Award for Distinguished Service, and is a community leader on efforts to end homelessness, serving on committees of Heading Home Hennepin and other local initiatives.
In her free time, Wendy likes to ride her scooter, spend time with friends and family, read, and garden.

Christina Jacobson

Christina joined Simpson Housing Services in January 2021 as Director of Equity and Human Resources. Christina is an attorney and prior to joining SHS she worked for several years as an employment lawyer in Chicago at a large law firm. She has extensive experience developing employment policies, diversity and inclusion programming and harassment training for corporate clients and other organizations. Christina is passionate about streamlining processes, and with every client or project, she has always sought to create a more equitable, consistent and above all compassionate workplace.
Before working as a corporate lawyer, Christina began her career working as a legal fellow for the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless. Her work with the organization made a big impact. She continued to advocate for underserved communities by providing free legal services to youth in criminal matters, representing children in race discrimination cases and serving as pro bono counsel to other low-income individuals in her spare time. A native to Minneapolis, Christina recently moved back home to be closer to her family.
Christina has a journalism degree from the University of Missouri and graduated from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2015.

Elisabeth brings to Simpson over two decades of fundraising, communication and strategic planning experience to the position. Previously, Elisabeth served as the Development and Communications Director for five years at Clare Housing. There she expanded fundraising and communications efforts by implementing a new fundraising model at the agency. Prior to moving to Minneapolis in 2007, Elisabeth served as the Director of Development at Project Inform and the Executive Director at Academy of Friends in San Francisco. Elisabeth began her career in the performing arts working as the Events Manager at La Jolla Playhouse and The Old Globe Theatre in San Diego.
Elisabeth has a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree from the California State University, East Bay. She enjoys finding quiet time to walk her dog, Zooey, learning how to garden, and tries to get

Christina has been matching caring volunteers with meaningful service since 2003. She enjoys collaborating with corporate partners, faith communities, schools, and families to provide service and learning opportunities. Her goal is to offer a variety of opportunities for the public to learn more about homelessness so citizens become actively engaged in housing solutions. The most rewarding part of her work is having long-term relationships with volunteers and seeing them grow their involvement with Simpson over time.
Christina enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, learning, cooking, and being an active community volunteer. She passionately believes that every person has a right to safe and affordable housing.
Christina has been with SHS since 2002.
